Description

This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was built on October 21, 1969, and it was optioned with a 428ci Cobra Jet Ram-Air V8 that is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a Traction-Lok differential. The car was also specified with the Drag Pack, which provided a high-lift camshaft, mechanical lifters, cap-screw connecting rods, and a revised crankshaft, flywheel, and vibration damper. It wears a repaint in red over black vinyl, and other equipment includes a rear spoiler, 14″ Magnum 500-style wheels, a pushbutton stereo, a heater, and a tachometer. Refurbishment work within the last year is noted to have included installing a Flowmaster exhaust system, refreshing the brake system and suspension, replacing the fuel tank, and refinishing the undercarriage. This Mach 1 is now offered by the selling dealer with an Elite Marti Report, a window sticker, spare parts, and a clean Colorado title.

The car was finished from the factory in Bright Gold Metallic and wears a repaint in red with black hood stripes. It features fog lights, a front spoiler, a Mach 1 grille, a vented hood, dual side mirrors, a rear spoiler, rear window louvers, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint blemishes are noted by the seller.

The 14″ Magnum 500-style wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the brake system is said to have been overhauled in preparation for the sale. The shocks and spring leaves are noted to have been replaced within the last year.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl. Interior appointments include a pushbutton stereo, a floor-mounted center console, and a heater.

The steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 428ci Cobra Jet Ram-Air V8 was factory rated at 335 horsepower. The optional Drag Pack added a high-lift camshaft with mechanical lifters as well as cap-screw connecting rods, and a modified crankshaft, flywheel, and vibration damper. Recent work includes an oil change and replacing the transmission pan and fuel tank, and a Flowmaster exhaust system has been fitted.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a Traction-Lok differential. The undercarriage is noted to have been refinished, and the driveshaft was reportedly replaced within the last year.

The window sticker, an Elite Marti report, and a Ford Motor Company production label are framed and shown above. The window sticker lists initial shipping to the Ford Division General Office Garage in Dearborn, Michigan, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a total price of $4,599.45.
